Postpartum Depression Therapy
It can be so hard to know if you’ve got postpartum depression, or if the difficult moods, fatigue, and constant worry are just a normal part of having a baby. But if you find yourself googling, “Is it the baby blues or do I have postpartum depression?” in the middle of the night, chances are, you could use some more support.
One of the criteria for diagnosing postpartum depression is how long you’ve been experiencing things like low mood or mood swings, irritability, or lack of interest in, for example, taking care of yourself or your baby. The “baby blues” is thought to last for only a few weeks. If you’ve been struggling with things like crying, difficulty sleeping, eating, or taking care of yourself or your baby for more than a few weeks postpartum, know that you are not broken, and it is not your fault. Postpartum depression affects many parents, and it can and will get easier with support.

Recognizing that we need more help than we’re getting, and figuring out how to ask for help can be vulnerable, painful, and overwhelming. I’ve been there. I have space for your emotions, no matter how big, or ugly, or scary they are for you. I will help you learn to ride those waves of emotion, understand your experience, and find compassion for yourself. And in doing that, you will find relief and enjoyment in your new stage of life.
If you’re ready for a free consultation to see if we are a good fit, send me an email. I’ll ask you about your main challenges and your hopes for therapy, and explain a little bit more about how I work. Then we can figure out if online or in-person appointments will be best for you, and how often (e.g. weekly or bi-weekly).
